There are several ways to make a classic banana bread. I've opted for a simpler version which can be easily enhanced with added flavors. To make a healthier version, you can add 10% wheat bran in the whole wheat flour. Serve it with honey and strong coffee. You can also add raisins in it to give it a different texture and flavor. I prefer to use less sugar than normal though you can slightly increase the quantity to match with your taste.   • 3 cups all-purpose wheat flour
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 3 small eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 bananas (ripe & mashed)
  • 1 firm banana (slit from between & cut in 1-1/2" slices)


  1. In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar mixing it for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Add eggs in it and whip briskly until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Finally add vanilla extract, mashed banana, and milk whipping for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  5. Add it in the whisked batter and mix until everything is combined.
  6. Add a layer of cooking spray in the baking tin.
  7. Place banana slices in the base of the tin in a single row with even gap.
  8. Pour the batter in the tin and let it settle for about 5 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 °C for about 45 to 50 minutes.
  10. Let it cool down to room temperature before slicing and serving.
