Hot spaghetti napoletanaWithout any doubt, spaghetti is one of my favorite pasta varieties I often make on the weekends. Let's make a popular spaghetti recipe which includes a generous amount of ripe tomatoes with delicious seasoning. If spaghetti is not available, you can use Penne pasta. If you prefer, you can also add seafood to the sauce to enrich the entire preparation. Make sure the sauce is simmering hot while serving. I prefer to mix grated cheese directly in the simmering sauce instead of sprinkling on the plates. If you want to make a spicy version of the same, add dried red chili flakes in moderate quantity. So here we go to make this lip-smacking pasta recipe made from rich tomato sauce and select spices.

Yummy spaghetti napoletana

Do try this delicious and fulfilling pasta recipe made with rich and flavorful tomato sauce base used for flavoring spaghetti strands cooked to perfection.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 500 gm spaghetti
  • 750 gm ripe tomatoes (pureed)
  • 2 small carrots (peeled & finely chopped)
  • 2 tsp castor sugar
  • 1 medium white onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • few basil leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried herbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • few spring onion leaves (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Heat generous amount of extra virgin olive oil in a deep nonstick pan.
  2. Add chopped carrots, white onion and garlic in it.
  3. Sauté for about 3 to 4 minutes till onion turns translucent.
  4. Add pureed tomato with chopped basil and castor sugar.
  5. Stir for about a minute on a medium flame.
  6. Season with paprika, ground black pepper, dried herbs and salt.
  7. Simmer with a closed lid for about 20 minutes.
  8. Add water if the consistency is too thick.
  9. Finally add grated Parmesan in the sauce and switch off the flame.
  10. Add spaghetti in the boiling water and gently stir till it is almost done.
  11. Drain all the water leaving spaghetti in the pan.
  12. Take a large serving bowl and arrange bunch of spaghetti strands as shown in the image above.
  13. Pour hot simmering sauce in between to fill up the empty space.
  14. Garnish with chopped spring onion leaves and serve immediately.
