Delicious pasta puttanesca

Relish this lip-smacking and spicy spaghetti preparation with tuna and loads of fresh herbs, spices, and tomatoes which gives it a unique and amazing flavor.

Servings: 4

  • 350 gm spaghetti
  • 200 gm tuna fillet piece
  • 4 to 5 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • 4 to 5 anchovies (coarsely chopped)
  • 250 gm ripe cherry tomatoes paste
  • 4 dried red chilies paste
  • 8 to 10 fresh black olives (pitted)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ground black pepper (for seasoning)
  • basil or parsley (for garnish)
  • oodles of extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Bake tuna fillet in a greased pan in a microwave for about 4 minutes on a high setting.
  2. Shred or crumble the fillet into smaller pieces and keep aside.
  3. Bring about 6 cups of water to a boil and add a pinch of salt in it.
  4. Lower the flame to medium and add pasta.
  5. Gently stir for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Except a cup of boiled water, drain the remaining part and keep the pasta aside.
  7. Heat 3 tsp of olive oil in a deep sauce pan.
  8. Add minced garlic with anchovies and saute for about 2 minutes.
  9. Add tomato paste with red chilies paste, oregano and shredded and baked tuna.
  10. Toss and stir for about 5 minutes.
  11. Add some boiled water, if required.
  12. Season with ground black pepper and salt.
  13. Cook for about 2 minutes.
  14. Add boiled spaghetti with black olives and once toss and stir well.
  15. Garnish with chopped basil or parsley and serve hot.
