The noodles are served on a flavorful sauce base to enhance the overall taste. Don't mistake the shiny chicken breast in this recipe for Peking duck. It's a normal roasted chicken breast delicately caramelized with select ingredients. If flat egg noodles are not available, you can use regular whole wheat noodles. If you couldn't resist, do not hesitate adding some parboiled or stir fried veggies in this recipe. Flat egg noodles with spicy roasted chicken breast

Relish this spicy and fulfilling recipe consisting of delicious flat egg noodles which are served with roasted chicken breast with a sweet caramelized shell.

Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 3 to 4 chicken breasts
  • 350 gm flat egg noodles
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 6 tsp honey
  • 50 gm red onion paste
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 tsp corn flour
  • 4 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp peanut oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Add white pepper powder, lime juice and salt in extra virgin olive oil and whip for half a minute.
  2. Apply this light marinade on chicken breast on all the sides and keep aside for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Boil about 2 liters of water and switch the flame to medium.
  4. Carefully add egg noodles in it and gently stir for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. Drain all the water and keep the noodles aside.
  6. Heat peanut oil in a nonstick sauce pan.
  7. Add red onion paste and saute for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Add chicken stock and simmer on a low flame.
  9. Add cayenne pepper, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce and a pinch of salt.
  10. Keep stirring gently and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  11. Mix corn flour in 2 tsp water.
  12. Add it in the simmering sauce and gently stir for a minute.
  13. Simmer till the sauce is reduced to half.
  14. Add boiled egg noodles in it and switch off the flame.
  15. Grill all the marinated chicken breasts in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 5 minutes.
  16. Take a large nonstick flat pan and add honey in it.
  17. Keep the flame flow and let the honey start bubbling gently on the pan base.
  18. Gently add the grilled chicken breasts and turn them ensuring the honey layer is applied on all the sides.
  19. Continue the caramelization process until the honey is reduced and crystallized on the chicken breast surface.
  20. Optionally, you can cut the breast into several pieces before serving.
  21. Pour spicy and flavorful sauce in the serving plate and place a generous helping of egg noodles on it.
  22. Top it with sweet crusted grilled chicken breast.
  23. Serve hot with your favorite salad.
