When served along with flavorful plum sauce and a dash of lime, they're simply irresistible. Red snapper fillets are not mandatory and can be replaced by locally available fillets with bit firm meat. Similarly, you can moderate the spices used for the coating to give it a local flavor. Needless to say, one can prepare calamari and prawns fritters in the same way with a different sauce. Coated fish fillets can also be kept in refrigerated form overnight and can be fried right before serving. Let's make these delicious fritters.

Crispy red snapper fritters

Do once make these spicy and crispy red snapper fritters preparation which is served with delicious plum sauce and is seasoned with flavorful ingredients.

Cooking time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 6 to 8 red snapper fillets (sliced)
  • 2 eggs (whipped)
  • 1/4 cup dried breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup semolina
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • 5 to 6 tsp plum sauce (available in stores)
  • small Chinese cabbage (finely chopped)
  • lime slice (for garnish)
  • refined oil for shallow frying
  • salt to taste


  1. Take a bowl and add dried breadcrumbs, semolina, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, light soy sauce and a pinch of salt in it.
  2. Mix everything well with a spoon and keep aside.
  3. Wash all the fillets and let them dry for about 15 minutes.
  4. Add a pinch of salt in the whipped eggs.
  5. Place a shallow frying pan on a medium flame and heat refined oil in it.
  6. Take a fillet slice and dip it in the whipped eggs bowl.
  7. Transfer to the seasoned crunchy coating and roll it so that a layer is formed on the fillet.
  8. Gently place in the frying pan and fry till it turns golden brown.
  9. Repeat the process for all the fillet slices.
  10. Take a serving plate and place finely chopped Chinese cabbage on it.
  11. Drizzle generous amount of plum sauce on top of it.
  12. Finally, place hot fried red snapper fritters above it.
  13. Garnish with lime slice and serve hot.
