Curried tangy chicken

Do make this tangy and spicy chicken curry preparation which also includes lemon and ginger and can be prepared quickly with limited number of ingredients.

Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 1 small chicken (chopped)
  • 300 gm tomato pulp
  • 100 gm onion (minced)
  • 6 garlic cloves (mashed)
  • 50 gm ginger (finely minced)
  • 3 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds powder
  • 5 tsp refined oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Wash chicken under running water and keep aside.
  2. Take a deep sauce pan and heat refined oil in it.
  3. Add mashed garlic and saute for about a minute.
  4. Add minced onion and stir fry on a medium flame till it turns light pink.
  5. Add tomato pulp and saute for 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Add chicken pieces with ginger and lemon juice switching the flame to high.
  7. Quickly toss and stir fry for a minute and switch back the flame to medium.
  8. Season with paprika, turmeric, coriander seeds powder and salt.
  9. Simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes and add 2 glasses of water.
  10. Cover the lid and simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  11. Serve hot with bread or rice.
