Hot grilled scallops with garlicky potato mash

Try this easy-to-make grilled scallop recipe which is served with delicately flavored mashed potatoes with a garlicky touch to complement the spicy scallops.

Servings: 6

  • 500 gm scallops
  • 750 gm potatoes (boiled)
  • 50 gm garlic (mashed)
  • 1/5 cup milk
  • 50 gm whipped cream
  • pinch of white pepper powder
  • pinch of black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • pinch of paprika
  • few drops of sesame oil
  • cilantro for garnishing
  • oodles of extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Take a bowl and add scallops in it.
  2. Season with black pepper powder, ginger garlic paste, paprika, sesame oil, 3 tsp extra virgin olive oil and salt.
  3. Apply the ingredients well on scallops and keep aside.
  4. Meanwhile take a large bowl and add boiled potatoes in it.
  5. Mash them well for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Take a blender and add mashed potatoes, mashed garlic, milk, whipped cream, white pepper powder and salt in it.
  7. Whip and blend the ingredients into a smooth potato mash base. Keep aside.
  8. Heat a charcoal grill and place seasoned scallops on it.
  9. Grill from both the sides for 4 to 5 minutes each.
  10. Take a serving plate and place generous amount of garlic potato mash on it.
  11. Top it with grilled scallops and pour generous amount of extra virgin olive oil.
  12. Garnish with chopped cilantro and a lime wedge.
  13. Serve hot with your favorite bread.
