The following recipe includes tender and moist duck meat dipped in an exotic sweet soy sauce and roasted to perfection. It simply melts in your mouth leaving the aromatic flavor on your taste buds. The flavor of this recipe is mild and pungent. In case you prefer a spicier variant, you can make appropriate additions in the ingredients to add the required spark. Addition of lime zest can introduce a completely different flavor that balances the sweetness of the sauce. Right before serving, you can also sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds on top of the roasted duck meat.

Sweet soy sauce glazed roasted duck

Relish this sweet and spicy roasted duck recipe which is glazed with flavorful sweet soy sauce marinade and cooked to perfection for an awesome flavor.

Servings: 4

  • 1 medium sized duck
  • 2 cups rice
  • 4 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp caramel
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp honey
  • pinch of white pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp oyster sauce
  • small Chinese cabbage (chopped)
  • oodles of extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Make sure the duck is fresh and tender.
  2. Make deep cuts in the duck with a large and sharp knife.
  3. Take a bowl and add dark soy sauce, caramel, brown sugar, honey, white pepper powder, oyster sauce, 1/4 cup olive oil and salt in it.
  4. Whip all the ingredients for about 4 to 5 minutes till everything is mixed well.
  5. Pour this mixture on the duck and make sure it is applied well inside out.
  6. Prepare a closed wood based oven with a high flame.
  7. Roast the duck in the oven for about 35 minutes.
  8. Boil rice with a pinch of salt in a liter of water for about 15 minutes.
  9. Drain excess water and keep the rice aside.
  10. Heat 2 tsp olive oil in a flat pan and quickly saute Chinese cabbage for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  11. Arrange boiled rice in the center of the serving plate.
  12. Place delicious sweet soy sauce duck on top of the rice.
  13. Garnish with lightly fried Chinese cabbage and serve immediately.
