Delicious Kashmiri Naan

Try this fulfilling naan of Kashmiri origin which is stuffed with cherries and select dry fruits making it a nutritious entry for your main course menu.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Servings: 15

  • 4 cups wheat flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 100 gm almonds
  • 50 gm cashew nuts
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 100 gm maraschino cherry (dried or fresh)
  • 3 to 4 tsp refined oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Take a flat bowl and add wheat flour, milk, eggs, baking powder, 1 tsp sugar, refined oil and a pinch of salt in it.
  2. Knead it into smooth dough by adding water, if necessary.
  3. Keep it in a warm place for at least 3 to 4 hours.
  4. Put 1/4 cup sugar, cashew nuts, almonds, maraschino cherries in a blender and turn them into a paste.
  5. Divide the dough into 10 to 15 equal parts.
  6. Make small flat patties and stuff the paste prepared earlier.
  7. Close it well from all the sides by rolling over and make the naan in your desired shape.
  8. Place it in a preheated tandoor or oven.
  9. Cook it for 4 to 6 minutes till it turns light brown.
  10. Serve it with hot and spicy meat gravy.
