Depending on your taste, you can also add cherry tomatoes in chopped form. Fresh basil is one of the most important prerequisites of this recipe to get the authentic flavor. Use red onions to get the fiery texture needed for this salsa. Leftovers of this salsa can be served in the form of salad provided you add some colorful veggies in it. Tangy and sharp basil onion salsa

Make this simple yet extremely delicious onion and basil salsa which also includes olive oil-drenched cherry tomatoes for livening up your main course.

Servings: 4

  • 250 gm cherry tomatoes
  • 200 gm red onions (chopped)
  • bunch of fresh basil (chopped)
  • 3 tsp lime juice
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  • few drops of malt vinegar
  • pinch of paprika
  • pinch of white pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • oodles of extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Keep the cheery tomatoes in sunlight for a day.
  2. Dip them in extra virgin olive oil for 3 hours.
  3. Take a bowl and add cherry tomatoes, red onions and basil in it.
  4. Toss well and continue adding lime juice, green chili, malt vinegar, paprika, white pepper powder, garlic powder and salt in it.
  5. Toss it well again and pour 3 to 4 tsp olive oil on top.
  6. Serve immediately with chips and pita bread.
