Crisp deep fried salmon fillets

Try this easy-to-make salmon fillet with a crisp and delicious layer which is deep fried for an irresistible flavor and texture to liven up your taste buds.

  • 800 gm salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (powdered)
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (powdered)
  • pinch of black pepper (coarsely ground)
  • 2 tsp chickpea flour
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder (roasted)
  • 2 tsp semolina
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • canola oil for deep frying
  • salt to taste


  1. Cut long and even fillets of salmon and pierce them with a fork.
  2. Take a large glass bowl and add cornmeal in it.
  3. Add cayenne pepper, thyme, black pepper, chickpea flour, cumin powder, semolina, garlic powder and salt in it.
  4. Sift it thoroughly with your fingers till all the ingredients are mixed well.
  5. Add buttermilk and mix well with a spoon.
  6. Roll each fillet in this batter so that it is evenly applied on all the sides.
  7. Heat canola oil in a deep frying pan.
  8. Fry all the fillets till they turn golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with a tangy or spicy sauce.
