Turmeric Chicken with Honey and Soy SauceI've used honey with chicken recipes several times in different forms. It gives a mild and unique flavor to the chicken and is easy to digest. But, you must ensure that you're using the right quantity of honey else it may overwhelm all other spices. Today's chicken recipe also contains the goodness of raw turmeric which is also a powerful natural medicine and antioxidant. This main course delicacy can also be turned into a snack by deep frying the marinated chicken pieces. Since raw turmeric is one of the primary ingredients of this recipe, you must use its right quantity without looking for any kind of substitute. Needless to say, boneless chicken pieces give the best results as it soaks the marinade quite well.

Sweet and sour turmeric chicken pieces

This unique chicken preparation includes raw turmeric in paste form which gives it a unique flavor with honey and soy sauce that’s so pungent and delicious.

Servings: 4

  • 800 gm boneless chicken
  • 200 gm raw turmeric
  • 5 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • pinch of paprika
  • 1 tsp onion paste
  • cilantro for garnishing
  • 5 to 6 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Wash all the chicken pieces and pierce them well with a fork.
  2. This will help marinade go deep into the pieces.
  3. Chop raw turmeric and add it to the blender with 1/2 cup of water.
  4. Blend it into a fine paste and keep aside.
  5. Take a large bowl and add pierced chicken pieces in it.
  6. Pour honey on top and apply it well on all the pieces with your hands.
  7. Add turmeric paste, soy sauce, white pepper powder, ginger garlic paste, paprika, onion paste and salt in it.
  8. Mix everything well with a large spoon and keep the marinated pieces covered with aluminum foil for about 10 minutes.
  9. Heat olive oil in a shallow frying pan.
  10. Once the oil heats up switch the flame to medium and add the chicken pieces.
  11. Stir fry for about 5 minutes and cover the lid.
  12. Let it simmer for about 7 to 8 minutes more.
  13. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
