Peri-peri pepper used in this recipe may not be available in every area. In that case, you can either use cayenne pepper or can go ahead with regular paprika. It may look like a regular French fries preparation but in reality it is completely different. There's a bit of moistness in these cheesy potato sticks instead of a crunchy texture. You can also experiment with the type of cheese used for this snack. Make sure the cheese chosen by you should be firm yet moist in nature. If kept in an airtight container, these potato sticks can be easily kept for at least a month in a cool and dark place. Let's make this tasty snack!

Peppery and cheesy fried potato sticks

Make these cheesy, yummy and crisp potato fingers preparation seasoned with hot peri peri chili powder and loads of Parmesan giving it a tantalizing flavor.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Servings: 10

  • 2 kg potatoes (nice and big)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (finely grated)
  • 1/2 tsp peri peri pepper powder
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • pinch of sugar
  • corn oil for deep frying
  • salt to taste


  1. Peel all the potatoes and make fingers from all of them.
  2. Place in cold water with lime juice and keep aside.
  3. Take a large bowl and put finely shredded Parmesan cheese in it.
  4. Add pepper powder, sugar and salt in it and mix well. Keep aside.
  5. Heat corn oil in a deep frying pan.
  6. Switch to a medium flame and fry all the fingers till they're light brown.
  7. Quickly roll all the hot fingers in seasoned Parmesan mixture.
  8. Due to warm potato sticks, fiery cheese will slightly melt down and will stick with the fingers.
  9. Store in an airtight container or in a paper bag.
  10. Serve with tea or fruit juice.
