I've used my favorite Parmesan cheese for this recipe as it blends very well with different pasta variants. You can either make fresh pesto at home or can use the canned version. The former version will give you the best results. If you're a fan of seafood, don't hesitate to add some grilled shrimps too. You can also combine two different types of pasta in this recipe. Vegetarians can replace grilled chicken with beans or broccoli. I generally prefer to serve pasta preparations for breakfast as it is easy-to-make and is loved by all the family members. Chicken with whole wheat pasta

Try this combination of delicious grilled chicken included in whole wheat pasta and loads of pesto making it an aromatic and wholesome platter of goodness.

Cooking time: 25 minutes
Servings: 6

  • 400 gm whole wheat pasta
  • 350 gm boneless chicken
  • 3/4 cup fresh pesto
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 3 to 4 garlic cloves (mashed)
  • 1/4 tsp dried herbs
  • 1 green chili paste
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
  • pinch of sugar
  • 3 tsp olive oil
  • pinch of salt


  1. Boil 2 liters of water in a large bowl and add 1/2 tsp salt in it.
  2. Add pasta and switch off the flame.
  3. Stir for about 5 to 6 minutes and drain all the water. Keep aside.
  4. Cut chicken into 2" pieces.
  5. Take chicken pieces in a bowl and add dried herbs, green chili paste, lime juice, white pepper powder and salt in it.
  6. Mix well and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  7. Grease a tray and arrange seasoned chicken pieces on it.
  8. Grill in a preheated oven at 250 degrees for about 5 minutes.
  9. Heat 3 tsp olive oil in a wok.
  10. Add mashed garlic and saute for about 1 minute.
  11. Add whole wheat pasta, pinch of sugar and pinch of salt.
  12. Stir fry for about 2 minutes on a high flame.
  13. Add pesto, grated cheese and grilled chicken pieces.
  14. Toss well for about half a minute and switch off the flame.
  15. Serve hot with your favorite fruit juice.
