It can be done through normal cooking vessels in your kitchen. This recipe should be consumed on the same day as it may get rotten if kept for a long time. Hot and spicy steamed fish

Enjoy this steamed fish preparation spiced up with hot chili sauce and herbs which also includes delicious tofu crumbs to make the entire recipe, fulfilling.

Servings: 4

  • 2 fresh water fishes (any species)
  • 150 gm tofu
  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 radish
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
  • 3 to 4 spring onions
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 3 green chillies (finely minced)
  • 5 tsp olive oil
  • sea salt to taste


  1. Wash both fishes under running water and make a large slit in between.
  2. Take out all the inner organs and again wash them thoroughly under running water.
  3. Chop potatoes, tofu and radish in small pieces.
  4. Heat 3 tsp oil in a shallow frying pan.
  5. Add tofu, radish and potatoes and saute for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Add green chillies, white pepper powder and salt.
  7. Saute for 2 more minutes and bring down from the flame.
  8. Mix sesame oil, balsamic vinegar, chilli paste and 2 tsp olive oil in a cup.
  9. Stuff the tofu filling in the fish and keep aside.
  10. Take a steaming dish and pour the chilli sauce at the bottom.
  11. Brush olive oil and sea salt all over the fish and place on the steaming plate containing the chilli sauce dip.
  12. Steam for about 15 minutes with the covered lid.
  13. Garnish with spring onions and serve hot with steamed rice.
