Shrimps are the most consumed seafood at my home. This time I've combined them with a Mexican salsa to give it a tangy and spicy flavor. If you've never used coconuts with shrimp, I bet you'll use them again and again once you find how good this combination is. If you can get a charcoal grill for this recipe, nothing can be better than it. You can use the same method for squids too. This preparation should be consumed hot for experiencing the best taste and aroma. Although I prefer this recipe with fried or boiled rice, you can also take it as a starter before the main course.

Tangy and spicy coconut shrimps

I bet you cannot resist this coconut flavored roast shrimps recipe which is fresh and served with tangy and delicious pineapple salsa made with perfection.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 600 gm fresh shrimps (deveined)
  • 1 cup concentrated fresh coconut milk
  • 200 gm canned pineapple (chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 3 green chillies (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 5 tsp olive oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Add pepper powder, 2 tsp olive oil and salt in the coconut milk.
  2. Marinate shrimp in it for about 15 minutes.
  3. Mix pineapple, lime juice, onions, tomatoes, green chillies, paprika and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Keep the salsa aside.
  5. Heat a Griller on medium heat.
  6. Brush it with little olive oil and place the marinated shrimps.
  7. Turn and grill on both sides till they change color.
  8. If required, you can also apply olive while grilling.
  9. Remember, shrimps are very tender and cook very fast.
  10. Do not grill them more than 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
  11. Place rice and pineapple salsa on the plate.
  12. Arrange roasted and grilled shrimps in between and serve immediately.
