I've also added dark chocolate chips to both enhance the flavor as well as to make it bit crunchy. Although you can introduce crunchiness through select dry fruits, nothing can replace chocolate chips. Make sure you take fresh cherries for this recipe. That way, you're going to get the best results with minimum efforts. Although I'm not a fan of mixing multiple fruits in a single ice cream, you can certainly experiment and can try peach with this recipe. Remember, the number of cherries should be taken with care else it will overpower all other ingredients giving you a completely different taste.

  • 500 gm fresh cherries
  • 400 gm fresh yogurt
  • 500 gm skimmed milk
  • 200 gm dark chocolate chips
  • few drops of cherry essence
  • 300 gm sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • pinch of edible cherry color


  1. Quality of an ice cream recipe is governed by two main factors.
  2. Correct proportions of all the ingredients and how well it is whipped to form a rich creamy base.
  3. So keeping these two things in mind, let's start our ice cream making process.
  4. Peel all the cherries and make a smooth puree in a blender.
  5. Take egg yolks in a large bowl and whip them briskly till they turn into white foam. You must use hand blender for the same.
  6. Add yogurt, sugar and milk. Continue with the whipping process for about 5 minutes.
  7. Add cherries puree, color and essence to the ice cream base.
  8. Transfer the mixture into a blender and whip for about 10 minutes.
  9. Add frozen dark chocolate chips to the base and mix softly with a spatula.
  10. Add the entire mixture into a large flat tray and refrigerate for about 4 hours.
  11. Serve right after your daily meal.
