
Caprese Sandwich with Mozzarella and Basil

Try this Italian sandwich made from caprese bread loaf and flavored with blanched tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and loads of flavorful basil leaves.

Try this Italian sandwich made from caprese bread loaf and flavored with blanched tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and loads of flavorful basil leaves.

Ingredients:
- 1 large Caprese sandwich bread (cut into equal pieces)
- 2 large tomatoes (finely chopped)
- 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 300 gm mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tsp dried herbs
- 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
- 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
- 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh basil (finely chopped)
- salt to taste
Instructions:
- Blanch chopped tomatoes in lukewarm water and keep aside.
- Heat 1 tsp olive oil in a shallow frying pan.
- Saute blanched tomatoes with pinch of salt for a minute and bring down from the flame.
- Heat 1 tsp olive oil again in shallow frying pan.
- Add onions, balsamic vinegar, basil, dried herbs and green chilli in it.
- Saute for about 2 minutes and bring down from the flame.
- Cut slices of mozzarella cheese and keep them aside.
- Take sandwich slices and arrange layer of onions and basil.
- Put mozzarella cheese slice on top it and sprinkle some white pepper powder on it.
- Put a layer of tomatoes on it and repeat the arrangement of these layers once more.
- Cover with the other sandwich slice and serve immediately.
