Paprika Chicken NoodlesThere are several flat varieties of noodles and Lagman is one of my favorites. It's basically a central-Asian variety of noodles that is easily available in supermarkets. I generally prefer noodles with a combination of seafood or chicken and that's what I've done with this recipe. You can substitute chicken with broccoli or zucchini to make a vegetarian version. If you cannot find these noodles in your area, you can use a flat pasta variety. While cooking these noodles, make sure you keep the flame high and stir it continuously else they may lose the texture and may not give you the authentic taste. This preparation is perfect for lunch with a nice bowl of salad. So let's make this yummy noodles recipe filled with awesomeness.

Paprika Chicken Noodles with Tomato and Tamarind Sauce

Hot and spicy chicken noodles

Try this spicy, fulfilling and flavor-packed noodles recipe loaded with chicken chunks and bell peppers to liven up your taste buds and your hungry belly.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 300 gm lagman flat noodles
  • 200 gm boneless chicken (1 inch pieces)
  • 2 large sized tomatoes
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/4 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp fish sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1/2 tsp soya sauce
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1/4 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • salt to taste


  1. Take 6 cups of water in a bowl.
  2. Once it starts boiling, add a pinch of salt and sesame oil to it.
  3. Add noodles and boil them for 3 minutes with covered lid.
  4. Drain all the water and rinse under running cold water.
  5. Apply few drops of sesame oil on noodles and keep aside.
  6. Cut bell pepper in 1/2 inch square pieces.
  7. Cut 1 tomato in small pieces.
  8. Put tamarind paste, 2nd tomato pieces and soya sauce in a grinder.
  9. Add 1 tsp water and make a smooth paste.
  10. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add onions.
  11. Saute for 2 minutes and add ginger garlic paste.
  12. Fry to 2 more minutes and add tamarind sauce.
  13. Add 1/4 cup of water and put chicken pieces to it.
  14. Fry it on high flame and stir continuously for 5 minutes.
  15. Add noodles, bell pepper pieces and fish sauce.
  16. Stir continuously and saute for 2 more minutes.
  17. Add tomato pieces and season with chilli flakes.
  18. Stir for 3 minutes and serve hot.
