Today we're going to make these irresistible peanut butter cookies topped with chocolate. Your kids are definitely going to love these cookies to the core. I've used regular chocolate for the topping but you can replace it with readymade chocolate chips too. Do make the extra servings of these light cookies as they're going to vanish in no time from the serving plate. A perfect balance between sugar and peanut butter makes these cookies heavenly. If you do not like chocolate topping, you can remove it altogether. These delicious cookies taste best with a piping hot cup of coffee. So, let's get started and quickly bake these mouth-watering peanut butter cookies for our loved ones and friends.

Sweet peanut butter cookies

Do try these mouth-watering, light and delicious peanut butter cookies which are topped with silky chocolate giving it an irresistible and a unique flavor.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Servings: 30 cookies

Ingredients:
  • 1-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 medium-sized egg
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 300 gm regular chocolate (melted)
  • 1/3 cup shortening

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 190 °C.
  2. Take a medium-sized bowl and sift together flour and baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, add granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, softened butter and shortening.
  4. Beat all the ingredients briskly until you get a creamy base.
  5. Add egg and beat again for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Slowly start adding sifted flour in it and continuously beat the cookie dough base.
  7. Once everything is mixed well, keep it aside for 5 minutes.
  8. Arrange cookie dough balls on an ungreased baking sheet with about 1-1/2" space between each cookie.
  9. Flatten the dough ball with a spoon and make sure there's a small cup in the center.
  10. Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes.
  11. Fill the melted chocolate in a cone.
  12. As soon as the cookies are done, squeeze half a spoonful of melted chocolate on top of each cookie from the cone.
  13. Let the cookies cool down on a rack.
  14. Serve hot with a cup of coffee.
