Anchovies are generally consumed in different forms whether it's fresh, semi dried, dried or pickled. It's often flavored with hot and spicy seasoning with generous amount of healthy oil. Today, we're going to make anchovy drenched in fiery seasoning to liven up your taste buds. You can relish it with your main course meal. One can easily keep these anchovies in refrigerated form for up to 2 to 3 days. This is a quick preparation and can be made anytime on a short notice provided you have the fish ready in your refrigerator. As always, I'll suggest you to moderate the amount of spice as per your taste. Let's quickly make this delicious, hot and aromatic anchovy fish preparation in a few easy steps.

Fiery and peppery anchovy

Relish this fiery, aromatic and delicious anchovy fish recipe which can be prepared quickly and can be consumed both with flatbread and rice servings.

Cooking time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 500 gm anchovies (cleaned & chopped in strips)
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fiery red chili flakes
  • few drops of sesame oil
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 25 gm ginger (finely minced)
  • 50 gm red onion paste
  • 1/2 tsp fish sauce
  • 1/2 tsp white sesame seeds
  • 6 to 8 tsp of peanut oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat peanut oil in a wok on a medium flame.
  2. Add finely minced ginger and saute for half a minute.
  3. Add red onion paste and stir fry for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the fish and season with soy sauce, chili flakes, sesame oil, lime juice, fish sauce and salt.
  5. Toss and saute for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Lower the flame and cover with lid.
  7. Simmer for 4 to 5 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle white sesame seeds on top and serve hot.
