Today, we're going to try this awesome main course preparation which includes both meat and vegetables in a slightly different form. Instead of cooking them in a curry or grilling in a spicy marinade, we've made a drier version that tastes great. Use boneless lamb shoulder meat for this recipe to get the best results. While cutting the strips, make sure they're not too thick. And, of course, you can add different types of vegetables other than the ones mentioned in the ingredients list. Leftovers of this recipe can be included in a spicy meat stew. You can also stuff these strips in your sandwiches anytime. Lamb strips and veggies with spices

Try this simple, delicious and nutritious combination of lambs strips and vegetables spiced up to perfection yielding a lip smacking main course serving.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 750 gm boneless lamb meat (cut into strips)
  • 3 cups stock (preferably mutton or chicken)
  • 300 gm carrots (cut in strips)
  • 2 to 3 spring onions (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked yellow paprika (can use regular paprika too)
  • 1/4 tsp tamarind powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 4 tsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • pinch of mace powder
  • pinch of clove powder
  • 2 tsp peanut oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Steam carrots for about 5 minutes and keep aside.
  2. Pressure cook lamb strips for about 15 minutes in salted stock.
  3. Drain all the remaining stock and let the almost done strips dry in an open tray.
  4. Take a large bowl and add cooked lamb strips in it.
  5. Add smoked yellow paprika, tamarind powder, garlic powder, onion powder, lime juice, black pepper powder, mace powder, clove powder and salt in it.
  6. Mix well with your hands such that all the seasoning ingredients are applied well on the strips.
  7. Heat peanut oil in a wok and transfer seasoned lamb strips in it on a medium flame.
  8. Add carrots and chopped spring onion and toss for a minute or two.
  9. Remove from the flame and bring down to the room temperature.
  10. Serve with yogurt dip and bread.
