I've often used sesame in bread recipes and this one is no different. Instead of using whole sesame seeds as I always do, this time I've slightly crushed the black sesame seeds so that they blend nicely with the bread dough. One can easily keep this bread for up to 2 to 3 days. If you don't like black sesame seeds, use the normal ones in moderate quantity since they have a sharp flavor. Do not forget to include wheat bran within the regular flour to get the right texture. Simple buttery toasts made with this bread are awesome. If you want to omit sesame seeds altogether, replace them with coarsely ground fennel seeds. Do try this one and see how your family members will relish this recipe.

Delicious black sesame bread

Bake this unique, fiber packed and delicious bread recipe flavored with black sesame seeds which gives it a subtle and nutty flavor with nice pungent texture.

Preparation Time: 2 hours 20 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 10

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all purpose wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup wheat bran (blended)
  • 4 tsp black sesame seeds (coarsely ground)
  • pinch of baking powder
  • pinch of sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp unsalted butter
  • 1/5 tsp yeast

Instructions:

  1. Beware that the flavor of black sesame seeds is very sharp so do not increase its quantity at all.
  2. Mix all the ingredients in a flat plate and sift well for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Take lukewarm water and slowly add in the flour mixture while you knead it.
  4. Once the dough is done, cover with muslin cloth and keep aside for 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Grease a baking bread tin with clarified butter and gently put bread dough in it.
  6. Though it is optional, but you can sprinkle some white sesame seeds on top.
  7. If you have a wood or coal oven, the results will be above excellent.
  8. During the baking process, you can check with a needle or fork whether it is done or not.
  9. Bake in preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bring down to the room temperature before attempting to slice it.
  11. Slice evenly and serve with butter and milk.
