This African style goat meat is spicy and goes so well with cracked rice preparation. The same ingredients can be used to prepare chicken curry. Generally short grain cracked rice is used for this recipe but you can use regular long grain rice too. And, if you prefer, you can omit rice replacing it with regular naan or bread. If you don't prefer to use red chilies, use white pepper or green chilies to add the required zing. Beef and lamb meat can also be prepared using the same method. Leftovers of this meat can be either included in a stew or can be mixed with a rich rice preparation. My family members love to eat this recipe with piping hot boiled rice. Spicy goat curry with rice

Enjoy this spicy and rich goat curry recipe which is flavored with hot spices and seasoning ingredients which is served with cracked rice and fresh peas.

Ingredients:
  • 850 gm goat meat (chopped)
  • 2 cups short grain cracked rice
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 10 dried whole red chilies (coarsely ground)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp dried rosemary
  • 200 gm onions (sliced)
  • 3 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 5 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 250 gm tomato puree
  • pinch of white pepper powder
  • few dried mint leaves
  • 8 to 10 tsp refined oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Soak rice in a bowl for at least half an hour in 500 ml of water.
  2. Heat 3 tsp oil in a deep sauce pan on a medium flame.
  3. Add peas and toss for about 2 minutes.
  4. Season with white pepper powder and stir fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Drain water from the rice and add in the sauce pan.
  6. Add dried mint leaves and salt with 3 glasses of water.
  7. Once stir gently and close the lid bringing down the flame to low.
  8. Simmer for about 25 minutes and switch off the flame.
  9. Heat 6 tsp oil in a pressure cooker.
  10. Add sliced onions with cinnamon stick and saute till they turn golden brown.
  11. Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry for about 3 minutes.
  12. Add tomato puree and simmer for about 2 minutes.
  13. Add goat meat and season with whole red chili powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, curry powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  14. Switch the flame to low and saute meat for about 6 to 8 minutes.
  15. Add two glasses of water and close the cooker lid.
  16. After the first whistle, lower the flame and cook for about 15 minutes.
  17. Take a serving plate and place cracked rice and peas at the base.
  18. Top it with hot and spicy goat meat recipe.
  19. Garnish with slit red and green chilies and serve hot.
