A salad is known by its dressing. Adding crunchy nuts in salad gives it an entirely different texture as well as induces some added nutrients. Today's salad uses rocket lettuce which may not be available in your area. You can easily replace it with regular lettuce. Roast pine nuts slightly before adding them in the salad. Do not refrigerate this salad as the fresh version tastes best. To increase the number of servings you can add some more colorful veggies like bell peppers. Generally this salad is served without any dressing but if you prefer to use one, add it right before serving. Fresh rocket lettuce has a strong flavor so keep your dressing bit mild. Sharp flavored rocket lettuce salad

Try this simple yet delicious salad preparation which includes sharp flavor rocket lettuce with tomatoes and roasted pine nuts to add the nutrition quotient.

Ingredients:
  • bunch of rocket lettuce
  • 500 gm tomatoes (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts (slightly roasted)
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp apple vinegar
  • pinch of white pepper powder
  • pinch of cinnamon powder
  • pinch of onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp chili oil
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. This pungent and flavorful salad should be served fresh before the main course.
  2. Take a large salad bowl and add sliced tomatoes in it.
  3. Add lettuce leaves, roasted pine nuts and chopped green chilies.
  4. Take a wooden spatula and mix all the ingredients and toss for half a minute.
  5. Take a small bowl and add apple vinegar, white pepper powder, cinnamon powder, onion powder, chili oil, sesame oil and salt in it.
  6. Depending on your taste, you can increase or decrease some of the ingredients of the salad dressing.
  7. Mix all the dressing ingredients with a spoon.
  8. Pour it on salad and mix again with a spatula.
  9. Toss well and sprinkle some roasted pine nuts on top.
  10. Serve immediately along with the primary recipe.
