While making this recipe, you can choose your preferred bun shape provided you keep the both sausage ends open and visible. I've used ready made chicken sausages to speed up the cooking time though you can opt for home made sausages too. This recipe is ideal both for breakfast and tea time. The tomato sauce used in this recipe is quite spicy and can be moderated as per your preferences. Needless to say, you can make the same recipe with beef or mutton sausages too. I prefer to eat these yummy sausage buns with a cup of strong coffee. You can also stuff some veggies along with the sausages to make the recipe more colorful. Let's make these delicious and fulfilling sausage buns.

Hot and spicy chicken sausage buns

Try these hot and spicy chicken sausage buns which are coated with fiery tomato sauce to add more kick to the preparation and to liven up your taste buds.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 6 to 8 chicken sausages
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 2 egg yolks
  • pinch of baking powder
  • 4 tsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 300 gm tomato puree
  • 4 tsp chili sauce
  • pinch of garlic powder
  • pinch of white pepper powder
  • 6 to 8 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Take deep sauce pan and heat 2 tsp olive oil in it on a low flame.
  2. Add tomato puree in it with chili sauce.
  3. Simmer for about 4 minutes while stirring gently.
  4. Add garlic powder, white pepper powder and salt.
  5. Simmer for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
  6. Sift wheat flour in a large and flat platter.
  7. Add egg yolks, baking powder, melted unsalted butter and a pinch of salt in it.
  8. Knead it into moist dough. Add lukewarm water while kneading the flour.
  9. Heat 4 tsp olive oil in a flat grill pan and saute all the chicken sausages for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  10. Take a baking tray and grease it with olive oil.
  11. Roll 6 to 8 flat wheat patties and place chicken sausage in the middle.
  12. Coat it with spicy tomato sauce prepared earlier.
  13. Fold the bun patty and place in the baking tray.
  14. Bake in a preheated oven for about 8 minutes at 180 degrees.
  15. Serve hot with mint sauce and coffee.
