Steamed seafood is one of the healthiest foods on this planet. But, making it equally tasty as fried or fast food is a big challenge. I've tried to make the following steamed prawns absolutely scrumptious through an aromatic and flavorful sauce. Radish not only gives color to the sauce but also adds a unique taste to the entire preparation. Addition of mint to the sauce base can liven up the aroma. The same process can be used for squids and salmons too. Make sure you use the correct quantity of lemon else the texture and taste of the entire sauce may spoil. These prawns go well with steamed rice though munching them as a starter is also a good option. Let's make these tasty and moist steamed prawns.

Tangy and delicious steamed prawns

Enjoy this unique steamed prawn recipe which is flavored with tangy lemon and radish sauce to give it a pungent and irresistible flavor that’s beyond words.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 500 gm prawns (deveined)
  • 300 gm radish
  • 4 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1/4 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp rock salt
  • sliced cucumber for garnishing
  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Wash all the prawns well and make cuts in them with a sharp knife.
  2. Apply rock salt on them and keep aside.
  3. Prepare the steamer and carefully arrange all the prawns in it.
  4. Steam for about 15 minutes and keep aside.
  5. Wash, peel and chop radish.
  6. Take a grinder container and add chopped radish in it.
  7. Blend it into a smooth paste.
  8. Heat olive oil in a shallow frying pan.
  9. Add ginger paste and saute for about a minute.
  10. Add tomato puree and simmer for 3 minutes.
  11. Add radish paste and season with paprika, white pepper powder, lemon juice and salt.
  12. Simmer on a low flame for about 5 minutes.
  13. Arrange sliced cucumber on a serving plate.
  14. Place steamed prawns on top of it.
  15. Pour hot radish and lemon sauce to cover the prawns.
  16. Serve hot with steamed rice.
