Although fried fish fillets are good enough to help you salivate easily, including the fillets in a spicy fried ball base can take it a step further. The following recipe includes potatoes, cottage cheese and salmon fillets with a spicy and aromatic seasoning. I've used chili flakes and black pepper for a spicy flavor which can be omitted or reduced to suit your taste. To hold the balls firmly together while deep frying, you must add semolina and coarsely ground chickpea flour. You can also make fried chicken balls using the same ingredients. Vegetarians can of course increase the amount of cottage cheese and potatoes entirely replacing the minced fish meat. Let's make these delicious fried fish ball fritters.

Spicy fish fritters with salad

Try this unique and delicious recipe made with the combination of fish, cottage cheese and potatoes which are crisp fried to perfection with awesome flavor.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients:
  • 300 gm salmon fillets (steamed and mashed)
  • 250 potatoes (boiled and mashed)
  • 200 gm cottage cheese (mashed)
  • 100 gm semolina
  • 100 gm chickpea flour (coarsely ground)
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (coarsely ground)
  • 1 big onion (chopped)
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • canola oil for deep frying
  • lime and purple cabbage for garnishing
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Take mashed salmon fillets in a large bowl and add mashed potatoes and cottage cheese in it.
  2. Mix all three of them well with your hands.
  3. Add semolina and chickpea flour and mix well with a spoon.
  4. Season it with chili flakes, black pepper, chopped onion, tomatoes and salt.
  5. Once again mix everything well and make balls with your hands.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  7. Fry all the fish balls till they turn golden brown.
  8. Garnish with chopped purple cabbage and lemon slices.
  9. Serve immediately with mint or coriander sauce.
