That's why today's yummy burger is served with delicious sweet potatoes fries that perfectly compliment the juicy black bean and potato patty stuffed between the buns. Black beans mash used for making patties should be free of extra moisture else it will not hold nicely. Although I've used some potato mash for the patty base, you can go ahead with black beans only version. Since black beans are loaded with proteins, you can pack these burgers for your kids' lunch too. Depending on your local taste, you can replace the sauce and seasoning used in this burger. Let's make this fulfilling and scrumptious burger with crunchy sweet potato chips.

Nutritious black bean burger

Enjoy this delicious burger made with nutritious and crisp black beans patty and served with equally tasty sweet potato chips to tantalize your taste buds.

Cooking time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 4 pairs sesame crust burger buns
  • 300 gm sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups black beans (soaked overnight)
  • 2 big potatoes (boiled and mashed)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp fresh oregano
  • 1/4 cup mayo sauce
  • 8 to 10 raw onion rings
  • 1 big tomato (sliced)
  • 1/2 tsp dried herbs
  • 5 to 6 tsp olive oil
  • canola oil for deep frying
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Peel and cut long or flat chips from all sweet potatoes. Keep aside.
  2. Heat 5 cups of canola oil and switch the flame to medium.
  3. Fry all the sweet potato chips for about 3 minutes and place on paper to absorb excess oil.
  4. Season them with plain salt.
  5. Boil black beans in a pressure cooker for about 20 minutes.
  6. Drain all the water and mash them in a bowl with a spatula.
  7. Take a large bowl and add mashed black beans and potatoes in it.
  8. Season it with black pepper, oregano, dried herbs and salt.
  9. Make flat patties with hands of your desired size.
  10. Heat olive oil in a shallow frying pan and fry all the patties till they turn light brown.
  11. Take first half of the burger buns and arrange onion ring and tomato slice on it.
  12. Apply a layer of mayo sauce and top it with juicy black bean patty.
  13. Cover it with the second half of the bun pair.
  14. Serve immediately with delicious sweet potato fries.
